Summary

Job Description

Groton School seeks a head coach for our girls varsity squash program, to join our Athletic Department for the 2021–22 Winter Term (early December through early March).

The successful candidate has a strong squash background, enjoys working with adolescents, and can engage well with a diverse group of students. Compensation will be based on experience and does not include benefits.

The head coach will be expected to:

• Supervise players during practices, matches, and other team functions
• Draw on a deep knowledge of squash to teach proper techniques and fundamentals
• Lead daily practices and prepare for matches (Monday–Saturday for approximately 20 hours per week)
• Travel to away matches with students
• Track match results
• Work with fellow coaches on time and court management, as well as practice structure
• Attend and participate in league coaches’ meetings
• Maintain a membership in good standing in the league
• Perform in compliance with league policies and procedures and Groton School’s safety program
• Participate in an end-of-season awards ceremony

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• Two or more years of squash coaching experience, preferably at the secondary school level
• Excellent knowledge of and ability to communicate squash techniques and fundamentals
• Strong motivational and communication skills
• An inclusive approach to teaching and educating
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide array of constituents (students, coaches, staff, faculty, health care providers)
